Pakistan named squad for SA series without the captain

PCB has announced the 15-men squad for the ODI and T20 series against South Africa in UAE. Misbah-ul-Haq makes a comeback in the Pakistan side, Kamran Akmal has been dropped because of the surgery.

Surprisingly no captain has been named for the series, Shahid Afridi was expected to be the leader of the team till the World Cup 2011 but not naming him the captain, PCB has definitely shown some concerns.

Shoaib Malik and Younis Khan not considered by PCB but Misbah-ul-Haq is back in the Pakistan side after the T20 World Cup. Kamran Akmal will not the part of Pakistan side as he is recovering from the surgery and he will be replaced by Zulqurnain Haider who played in the second Test against England this summer and scored a fighting 88.

Umar Amin and Azhar Ali who were part of the England tour have been left out. Imran Farhat will also be part of the team in ODI and T20 series after a long time.

Few management changed also have been made, former coach Intikhab Alam will be the manager of Pakistan side, batting coach Ijaz Ahmad and Assistant Manager Shafqat Rana have not been re-appointed. Waqar Younis will carry on the job as Pakistan’s coach with Aaqib Javed.

Pakistan squad: Imran Farhat, Mohammad Hafeez, Mohammad Yousuf, Misbah-ul-Haq, Umar Akmal, Asad Shafiq, Fawad Alam, Shahid Afridi, Abdul Razzaq, Umar Gul, Saeed Ajmal, Abdur Rehman, Shoaib Akhtar, Tanveer Ahmed, Zulqarnain Haider (wk).

Officials: Intikhab Alam (manager), Waqar Younis (coach), Aaqib Javed (bowling coach), Faisal Hayat (physiotherapist), Saboor Ahmed (trainer), Shahid Aslam(assistant manager), Talha Butt (analyst), Muhammad Akhtar (masseur).
