Pakistan finished common wealth games at 17th position with five medals (2 gold, 2 bronze and 1 silver) after the disappointment in Tennis, Hockey and Squash events.

Wrestler Azhar Hussain and Mohammad Inam won gold medals in their wrestling events for the first time in 40 years and gave Pakistan some respect in Common Wealth Games 2010 in Delhi.

Aisam-ul-Haq is very hopeful for gold medal in Common Wealth Games after the successful run at US Open 2010.

Pakistani 76 member squad is on New Delhi for the 19th Common Wealth Games. Tennis Star Aisam- ul-Haq is hopeful for the medal after the successful run in US Open 2010.

Pakistan will take part in seven events including Hockey, Tennis, Shooting, Wrestling, Weight lifting, Squash and Boxing.

Pakistan tennis star Aisam-ul-Haq returned home (Wednesday) after playing two finals at US Open 2010.

Aisam was greeted by large number of supporters at Lahore airport where his family was also there to welcome him. Government and Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) officials draped Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi with garlands as fans chanted “long live Aisam” and “our new hero.”

Aisam and his partner Kveta Peschike of Czech Republic, beats Anna – Lena Groenefeld of Germany and Mark Knowles of Bahamas by 7-6 7-6 to reached the final of US Open.

Aisam becomes the first Pakistani to reach the semi of grand slam event

Pakistan ace tennis star Aisamul Haq has created another history for Pakistan in tennis as he became the first Pakistani to reach the semi-final of grand slam event.

Aisam and Kveta Peschke of the Czech Republic reached the semis of mixes doubles of US Open. Pair will face – off against Pablo Cuevas of Uruguay and Gisela Dulko of Argentina in the 2nd semi-final of US Open.

Aisam is the first Pakistan to ever made place into the semi-final of any grand slam event. He and his men’s double partner Ravi Bopanna will face Wesley Moodey and Dick Belgium for the next round.
